CSAP Coalitions
A Project of the North Country Health Consortium and its Partners:
"Working together to create healthier communities for our children and families."
Substance abuse efforts in the North Country of New Hampshire are spearheaded by a variety of coalitions initiated by the North Country Health Consortium Community Substance Abuse Prevention Program.
Coös County Coalition
Coos County Coalition Mission Statement:
"To develop and implement a set of regionally coordinated initiatives to prevent substance abuse by youth."
The Coös County Coalition is a group of agencies and individuals working together to prevent substance abuse by youth and has been in existence since 1999. The Coalition meets bimonthly in Lancaster, NH.
The Coös County Coalition is funded through grants from the NH Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
Initiatives include:
- Community and school collaboration
- Community norms change (challenging cultural acceptance of alcohol abuse by youth)
- Assessment services
- Training and information on substance abuse issues in the North Country
- Raising awareness of the dangers of tobacco use
- Increasing smoking cessation and prevention among youth
- Raising awareness of the current prescription drug abuse epidemic\
- Working with law enforcement to create local prescription drug take back locations
- Preventing underage alcohol use
- Raising awareness of the dangers of alcohol use by youth
- Promoting the New Hampshire ‘Buyers Beware’ program
- Promoting leadership opportunities and trainings to North Country residents
- Coalition building
- Safe Homes Pledge and other interactive family programs

Littleton Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATOD) Task Force
Started in 2005, the Littleton ATOD Taskforce brings together community stakeholders from Littleton and the surrounding communities in order to address the problem of youth substance abuse.
It meets bimonthly at the North Country Health Consortium office located at 262 Cottage Street, Littleton, NH.

Student Assistance Program Counselor Coalition
Bringing together Student Assistance Program Counselors from around the North Country, the coalition is designed to assure collaboration and information sharing between these school-based professionals. In the past, the Coalition has collaborated to bring speakers to the North Country and discuss lesson plans.
