Healthcare Workforce Development

NNH AHEC works to promote health careers awareness to North Country students through the health careers pipeline project. The goal of the pipeline project is to get communities to be proactive in growing their own healthcare professionals. NNH AHEC staff work with students and teachers to foster interest in health careers and to provide continuing support and "hands-on" experience directed at recruiting North County students into health career occupations.

Health Careers promotion activities for grades 7-12 include:

  • Providing classroom presentations on health careers.
  • Participating at career fairs and health fairs.
  • Distributing Directions to a Career in Healthcare to area schools (link to catalog) or Careers in Healthcare – North Country Planning Region
  • Helping communities develop Youth Health Service Corps programs for high school students.
  • Serving as a resource for financial aid and scholarship information.
  • Sponsoring health career-related summer camps.
